VillaSport Athletic Club and Spa Hires Herb Lipsman as General Manager for New Cypress Club

HOUSTON, November 11, 2016 – VillaSport Athletic Club and Spa, the resort-style fitness club headquartered in San Rafael, California, today announced industry veteran Herb Lipsman as General Manager of its second Houston area location opening in Cypress summer 2017. The company opened its first Houston area club in The Woodlands in 2009.

Lipsman joins VillaSport after a distinguished career in upscale private clubs and luxury resorts that spans more than 35 years.
In his new role, Lipsman will be responsible for opening the 130,000 square foot family-focused VillaSport Cypress club and overseeing all facets of operation, including membership, fitness, aquatics, group exercise, social programming, food and beverage, kids club, day spa and more. “I’m excited to be part of VillaSport’s expansion in the Houston area with the opening of the Cypress location,” said Herb Lipsman. “VillaSport’s unique healthy lifestyle approach for all ages and strong commitment to service and community set it apart from other health clubs and fitness facilities.”

Prior to VillaSport, Lipsman most recently served as general manager for Golf Club of Houston. He also spent 13 years in various senior management roles with The Houstonian Hotel, Club &and The Redstone Companies.

Similar to The Woodlands location, the VillaSport Cypress facility will offer indoor and outdoor amenities, including lap and recreation swimming pools, cardio center, strength equipment, NBA hardwood court, and a range of art, dance and fitness activities for kids. The club’s VillaKids offering features more than 14,000 square feet of activity space, including a three-story climbing gym, and provides ever-changing activities based on rotating themes for kids 6 weeks to 12 years. A full day spa will offer massages, facials, waxing, manicures and pedicures.

The resort amenities extend beyond fitness activities, with outdoor firepits and lounge areas, comfortable seating areas with large-screen TVs and wifi, a separate adults-only café lounge, and social programs such as wine tastings and ice cream socials.
