Throughout the year, VillaSport reaches out to the community to lend a helping hand. Local schools, food pantries, and local and national charities have benefited from the generosity of VillaSport, our members and staff.
We are always exploring new ways to support our community and welcome your suggestions. Do you know of a charity that could use a helping hand? If so, fill out and sumbit our community support form
We review proposals quarterly beginning January 1, with a goal of selecting and notifying all applicants within 60 days.
The following are some of the programs in which we have participated: Good Soles Shoe Drive
The staff at VillaSport collected new and gently worn shoes and socks that were donated to area non-profit organizations for distribution just in time for the season's cooler weather. We had a great turnout. The container was filled over five times and still continues to get filled every couple of weeks. Interfaith Charities Food Drive
In November VillaSport partnered with Interfaith of The Woodlands. to fill the food pantry before Thanksgiving. Bins were provided in the VillaCafe and VillaKids areas. Canned food, rice and pasta, beans, peanut butter, soups and stews were collected to fill the food pantry before Thanksgiving.
In 2009, VillaSport staff and members collected more than five pallets of food for The Interfaith Food Pantry in The Woodlands. The food collected directly benefited members of The Woodlands who were having trouble feeding their families during the tough economic times.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Toy Drive
Once again this year, VillaSport collected new unwrapped toys and gift cards for children ages newborn to 18 years. The collected toys were distributed by CASA at its annual "Holiday from the Heart" Party to children who have been victims of life-threatening abuse or neglect and as a result, have been placed in protective custody of Child Protective Services.
Tax deductible receipts will be available. For more information, visit www.casaspeaks4kids.com
American Diabetes Association Step Out
On November 21, 2009, the VillaSport Team braved a cold and rainy morning to participate in the local American Diabetes Association Step Out. The team goal was to raise $1,250. We exceeded our goal and hit just under the $1,400 mark. Thanks to all who attended. Keep an eye out for the next Team VillaSport event.
Just last spring in The Woodlands, VillaSport lent support to the Barbara Pierce Bush, Colin L. Powell, Roger L. Galatas, Glen Loch, and Sam K. Hailey Elementary Schools and Coulson Tough Intermediate School.
