Small-group lessons are offered from beginner to advanced levels, with a maximum of four students per class.

For the child who is afraid of water, cannot swim, or will not get his⁄her face wet.*

FOCUSTrust and Submersion
SAFETY SKILLAlways ask for permission before getting in the water.
WATER SKILLSubmerge while relaxed with assistance for 5 seconds.
AGES3 – 7 years

*Child must be 36 months old or have Aquatics Director approval.

RED FROG

For the child who enjoys water, gets his/her face wet, jumps in but can swim only with support.

FOCUSBody Position and Air Exchange
SAFETY SKILLPut on a life jacket, float on back and kick 20 feet.
WATER SKILLJump in, submerge, recover for air, roll and lay on back (kicking and finning) for 5 seconds in both swimwear and regular clothes.
AGES3 – 11 years

YELLOW OTTER

For the child who is not afraid, can float, jump in and return to surface.

FOCUSForward Movement and Direction Change
SAFETY SKILLTread Water (surface support) for 10 seconds.
WATER SKILLSwim-Roll-Swim for 30 feet
AGES3 – 14 years

BLUE DOLPHIN

For the child who can swim 10 feet while taking an occasional breath.

FOCUSIntegrated Movement
SAFETY SKILLSurvival float and tread water for 30 seconds.
WATER SKILLStart in side glide, swim freestyle 30 feet with 1-2-3 breathe pattern.
AGES4 – 14 years

Green Shark

For the child who can tread water for 15 seconds and swim freestyle for 10 feet.l breath.

FOCUSIntegrated Movement
SAFETY SKILLSurvival float and tread water for 30 seconds.
WATER SKILLStart in side glide, swim freestyle 30 feet with 1-2-3 breathe pattern.
AGES4 – 14 years
